Refinery 29 My Stylist: Put On A Day Coat, Feel Like A Lady
Two ways to wear a printed coat for Refinery 29
Vintage hat and blouse, ASOS Coat and Boots
Fall is just around the corner, which means despite the oppressive NY heat I'm already thinking about the sartorial changes I'll be making once the leaves start changing colors.
Of all the garments that make up a fall closet, coats are most important. They make up your outer shell, and are the one piece that you're seen most in when walking on the street or waiting on a subway platform. So, I always like to invest in a few that would work with a variety of outfits — and seasons — like this ASOS number.
This jacket is the perfect investment to start trickling into your outfits at the tail-end of summer with its cropped sleeves and graphic black-and-white pattern that can be worn with a dozen different looks. Here, I'm wearing it with boyfriend jeans, boots, and a hat to top everything off — it looks almost Charlie Chaplin-inspired.
You know, just casually prancing around a parking lot...
ASOS coat and skirt, Vintage Dior blouse, Candela shoes
This is my print-on-print ensemble. I chose a black-and-white beaded blouse to stay with the color story of the coat. But to shake it up a bit, I went with a bright floral skirt. I love mixing navy colors or even shades of olive with black and/or white outfits for a subtle dose of color. I went with these navy suede shoes for just that reason.
Now that you've seen two examples of why you need a printed coat, go on and find your own patterned topper for fall.
