Weekend Style |The Babydoll Dress
Margaux Lonnberg "Lou" dress, Vintage hat, bag and blouse, Botega Venetta shoes
Last week I had the chance to visit the Sister Tribes showroom and have a peek around. I took home this dress by Margaux Lonnberg, a blogger turned designer, who's first collection has hit stores. The pieces capture a strong menswear inspiration, with oversized fits and a neutral color story. The collection consists of easy, loose tees, tiny dresses and oversized jackets. I've got my eye on this jacket.
As for this dress- I love the shape and the fit. It's short enough to be flirty, but billowy enough to be comfortable. It basically combines looking sweet and sexy. Win/win? Plus, I've always been a huge fan of the babydoll silhouette.
I wore my favorite vintage blouse underneath the dress (it's really falling apart). I dig the whole"blouse-under-dress" thing because short sleeve dresses suddenly become more wearable. The pairing is perfect for this transitional weather we're still experiencing in NYC. Not to mention, a top under a dress can totally change the look and feel of the whole outfit.
What do you think? Are you into babydoll dresses? I also love a good A-line, but most body-con dresses usually scare me. Eep!
